J.F.Kennedy:"Ich bin ein Berliner"

CELEBRATING THE END OF SOVIET OCCUPATION.

Ambassadors from Slovakia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia and Romania came together at the Embassy of Slovakia, in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the 10 th Anniversary of the end of the Soviet Empire.

This “ by invite only” reception included the presentation of Cold War artifacts to the Cold War Museum, represented by Gary Powers jr. the founder and Director and speeches by the Slovakian Ambassador, outlining the struggle for Independence.

Video of the fall of the Berlin Wall, President Kennedy’s famous statement on the steps of the Berlin- Schoeneberg City Hall “ICH BIN EIN BERLINER” and key independence events showed how the world has changed over the last ten years.

Here the Ambassadors are seen with Gary Powers jr. acknowledging the speakers and celebrities who attended the reception. Throughout the evening ambassadors, diplomats and the military attaches recounted their experiences and struggle during the Soviet era.
